On the 1st day of Christmas…

first-day-of-christmas1My True Love gave to meeeeee! (OMG, aren’t you glad you can’t hear me singing?)

Seriously though, the best gift I’ve ever received (and I mean, EVER!) was given to me by my true love at Christmas a couple of years ago. It was my ever handy, ever nearby, ever used Palm Z22–seriously, in no time at all it became an extension of my hand, the perfect adjunct to my life. Even more so when I discovered I could download ebooks onto it! (note to self: check installation disk for more new toys…) Now, I know there are higher spec models and PDAs that do everything bar your ironing (hmmm, wouldn’t mind me one of those) but my Palm is probably the most thoughtful and useful gift my hubby has ever given me in the whole time I’ve known him. And believe me, that has been more than half my life. Thinking about that aspect of it, he darn well ought to know what I’d like for Christmas by now 😀

So, in the spirit of the rapidly approaching C-word, what’s the best, the funniest or the most interesting thing your true love (or any love for that matter) has ever given to you?

For three randomly drawn comments Yvonne has–yes!–more cute little New Zealand keyrings!

Last Christmas my true love gave me 25 days of Christmas. From December 1 he bought something each day ending with the big gift on Christmas day. So l got from chocolate to cookbooks, jewellery, baking and cooking equipment. On Christmas he got me this beautiful Amethyst and pearl necklace, earings and bracelet. This year l think it will be something diamond if he takes all the hints. 😀

And Avi is back, posting the first comment! 😀

Yvonne, does it have to be a Christmas present? ’cause a few years ago my true love gave me power tools for Valentine’s Day, my b-day and Mother’s Day, and had me walking on clouds for months afterwards.

    What can I say? Once a tomboy… 😉

Avi, your true love sounds like a true romantic. Lucky girl! That jewellery set sounds gorgeous!

Azteclady, for you I think we can make an exception 😉 And if power tools are what rock your boat then your true love really hit the nail on the head (pun intended 😀 )

Oh Avi, you lucky girl! You too, Azteclady. It’s wonderful when yout true love ‘gets’ you 🙂 Our first christmas together my true love bought me a wood block full of knives. I was like, Gee, thanks. lol With lots of subtle hints (some not so subtle) he’s gotten *much* better with gifts.

Yvonne, your Palm Z22 sounds like a must!!

lol – love the gifts. Robyn – were they at least *good* knives?
Erm – I’m going with a “funny gift” from “any love” – in college, 3 of my friends got me a few gifts. This so random book that… I don’t even know. Then a fleece blanket (still use it)… and a ceramic hair straightener. Which is still in its original packaging. I’d recently donated my hair, and didn’t quite know what to do with it – but have and had patiently explained to anyone and everyone, no I do not do my hair, nor do I plan to. I shampoo and condition it, the end. I do not use “product.” I have no gel, no spray gel, hairspray, mousse, wax, styling stuff, or whatever. I have a hair dryer. No curlers, rollers, and I like it that way. I liked getting out of bed 20 minutes before class started, washing my face and brushing my teeth, then taking the 10 min walk to class. *Everyone* knew this.
I don’t know what they were hoping for… 😛 but at least I never told them I don’t use it? :X

The best Christmas present was given to me by my cousin. I was spending Christmas with my cousin, but she had to work. She was going to Amsterdam and she bought me a ticket to go with her so I wouldn’t be alone on Christmas.

Yvonne, your true love rocks! And yours Avi and Robyn (because, you know, points for learning!) and Azteclady and Limecello and Jane (oh, I heart the gift of travel!)

Mine (and forgive my tardiness, my whole is running a couple of days late at the moment!): best present, ever, was last Christmas when my true love gave me a half share (with him) in a horse. She is beautiful. 🙂

Robbie, a knife block??? And he’s still alive? LOL! 😀

Limecello, some people just never ‘get’ you, do they? Did you manage to sell the hair straightener on eBay? 😉

Jane, your cousin sounds like a real sweetie. Amsterdam is a great place to visit.

Hey, Bron, sometimes he rocks, sometimes he just has rocks in the brain, but he’s getting there 😎

RobynL, now that’s a give that’s practical and still lovely indeed.

Okay, my three winners today are:

    1. Avi! (for the most romantic)
    2. Jane! (because my roots are in Holland)
    3. RobynL! (for beauty and practicality)

Please email me at yvonne @ yvonnelindsay dot com with your postal address and I’ll get your keyrings out to you, hopefully in time for Christmas!
